– The Westfield Starfires may begin the fifth week of the season on the road, but fans of the team have four home games with incredible promotions to look forward to, highlighted by a Banana Ball Night on Wednesday, June 24 and the fourth-annual Starfires Summer Classic on Sunday, June 28.
On Wednesday evening, fans are in for a treat at Bullens Field with two special appearances from the Savannah Bananas.
Presented by M&T Bank, Vincent Chapman, “The Dancing Umpire,” will be in attendance not only to help officiate the game, but to meet fans and sign autographs.
Chapman will be joined by Bananas star and longtime Boston Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee, presented by MBB Professional Services. “The Spaceman” was an All-Star on the Red Sox 1975 AL Pennant winner, and the Red Sox Hall of Famer has continued to strike out hitters even into his 70s.
Bookending the week, Sunday marks the return of the Starfires Summer Classic to the Walker Memorial Grandstand in Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts.
First played in 2023, the game is a celebration of the historic field in the City of Homes, and helped Springfield secure federal funding for needed renovations, including a new permanent outfield fence and a scoreboard.
The Frank Manzi Band will perform prior to the contest, and the team will once again hold a free youth baseball clinic from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Additionally, the game will celebrate American International College women’s rugby and the two national championships won in 2025-26 by the Yellow Jackets.
Naomi Dodd, who was MVP of the National 7s Collegiate Rugby Championship for AIC and a key part of the team’s second straight National Intercollegiate Rugby Association title in the fall of 2025, and is also the captain of the Jamaican national team, will throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
Fans will be able to meet Dodd and take pictures with her and both national championship trophies prior to the game.
Admission to the event is free, and entrance to Forest Park is also free for the game.
In addition to these two events, two other popular promotions return on Thursday, June 25 and Saturday, June 27.
Thursday’s contest is Dollar Dog Night, presented by Kayem, with one-dollar hot dogs all game long. Legendary TD Garden and Boston Bruins singer Todd Angilly will be on hand to sing the Star-Spangled Banner before the game, powered by Peerless Precision.
That game will also be Baystate Health and Health New England Employee Recongition Night.
Saturday is the team’s second-annual Star Wars Night. The team will don specialty jerseys, and there will be character appearances throughout the game, giving fans a chance to take pictures with some of their favorites from the epic movie series.
